Siding Inspection

Your project with VA Exteriors always starts with a thorough inspection, to help you understand the current state of your siding. We will provide you with a detailed summary and photographic evidence of trouble areas so you can make an informed decision about your siding repairs and replacements.

What to Expect From Our Professional Siding Inspections

A siding inspection consists of four categories: Installation, Materials, Structure and Interior

  • Installation:

    • Ripples in the siding which can be a result from stapling or nailing through the face of the siding due to incorrect installation.

    • Distortion or buckling of panels may be caused by fasteners that were not driven straight and level.

    • Improper caulking

    • At least 1/4 inch of clearance at all openings for normal expansion and retraction

  • Materials

    • Storm damage where we will  look for splits, cracks, chips, breaks, and holes caused by wind, flying debris of any size, and wind-driven hail.

    • Water damage due to age of siding where it is no longer a barrier to the outside elements.

    • Insect and wildlife damage from woodpeckers, squirrels and insects-particularly termites.

    • Plant, moss or mold growth which indicates your siding is holding on to too much moisture.

    • Discoloration and fading due to excessive UV exposure

  • Structural:

    • Siding buckled or torn due to structural building movement

  • Interior

    • Interior ceilings and walls for water stains, mold, rot and other signs that water is making its way into your home.

    • Peeling paint or loose wallpaper
